Holmgren Subaru welcomes a new member to our new inventory, a trim level called Wilderness that car buyers can choose when purchasing the Subaru Forester or Subaru Outback. The Wilderness name describes its use case since the vehicles carrying its name feature a higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and bumper improvements with extended lower cladding to help protect the wheels and undercarriage when you off-road in New London.
Forester Wilderness Features
When you add the Wilderness trim to the Forester, the SUV comes with raised suspension, an increased ground clearance of 9.2 inches, and an amended bumper design that helps the vehicle take large obstacles better. The exterior and interior feature anodized copper finish accents. The SUV also comes with 17-inch matte-black finish alloy wheels with Yokohama GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires so the Wilderness can take on any terrain admirably. The new dual-function X-MODE contains a hill descent control feature to help the vehicle handle slippery, rocky, and loose dirt terrain on a descent.

Outback Wilderness Features
Although the Wilderness trim on the Forester offers similar features, their measurements differ slightly. For instance, on the Outback Wilderness, the SUV comes standard with raised suspension and 9.5 inches of ground clearance, providing a bit more clearance than the Forester. The wheels, tires, water-repellant upholstery, and anodized copper accents remain the same. The engine differs from the Forester’s, though, with the Outback Wilderness receiving a 260-hp direct-injection turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine. On its exterior, the Outback Wilderness features high-capacity fixed roof rails for toting camping or outdoor equipment around Hartford.
