Subaru Forester vs. Toyota RAV4

Value and MSRP
The new Subaru Forester weighs in at a slightly lower starting MSRP than the Toyota RAV4, making it an excellent choice if you're looking for the more affordable option. Of course, a smaller price tag isn't the only thing that the Forester offers. When you consider the fact that the Forester comes standard with all-wheel drive, which is only available as a pricey option on the RAV4, it's clear that the Forester offers more for your money.

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
Few things are more emblematic of the Subaru lineup than the exceptional Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. This legendary AWD system comes standard on all new Forester models, offering improved traction and stability when you set out on an off-road adventure or tackle snowy roads when winter hits. The RAV4 only offers AWD as an option that you'll have to pay more to enjoy, and it doesn't have the same sophistication as the AWD system on which Subaru built the Forester.

KBB 5-Year Cost To Own Award
Not only does the Forester have a lower MSRP, but it has received the KBB 5-Year Cost To Own Award. This prestigious award takes insurance, fuel economy, insurance rates, and most importantly, vehicle depreciation into account! The Rav4 did not receive this award for 2020, meaning you are likely to end up spending more throughout the lifetime of this vehicle.

Interior Space
If you're searching for a crossover that offers plenty of room for passengers and cargo, the Forester supplies for space than the RAV4. With up to 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 53.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded, the Forester has ample space for you to use, whether you set off on grand adventures with your family or pick up that thing you found at a yard sale. The RAV4 has less passenger room and less max cargo room, so you might find it to be a bit more cramped.
